ISOLATION
Isolation can be a sweet and ancestral need for shelter and protection, as well as lead to the creation of a personal space, it can also be a cage, which oppresses those who suffer from it.
The project “Isolation” aims to analyze and transpose this concept in dress, with shapes, length and draperies that form a sort of constriction. Slowly in the collection the body goes to undress from these constriction thanks to the changes of volumes and lengths, thus freeing the body.
The inspiration for the collection comes in part from the Joy Division song “Isolation”, an autobiographical song that speak about the increasingly of strong emotional closure of singer Ian Curtis.
For the graphics, I used color as if represent cuts on fabric, inspired by Francis Bacon’s paintings of the 50s; period where the painter represent reality with intangible figures and furious strokes of color, creating a claustrophobic sense.
L’isolazione può essere un dolce e ancestrale bisogno di riparo e protezione, oltre che portare ad una creazione del proprio spazio, può però risultare una gabbia, che opprime chi la subisce.
Il progetto “isolation” vuole analizzare e trasporre nell’abito il concetto, con forme, lunghezze e drappeggi che vanno a formare una sorta di costrizione. Pian piano nella collezione il corpo va a spogliarsi da queste costrizioni grazie a cambi di volumi e lunghezze, liberando così il corpo.
L’ispirazione per la collezione proviene in parte dal brano dei Joy Division “Isolation” brano autobiografico che racconta della sempre più forte chiusura emotiva del cantante Ian Curtis.
Per le grafiche, ho usato il colore come a rappresentare tagli sul tessuto, ispirandomi ai quadri degli anni 50 di Francis Bacon; periodo nel quale, il pittore rappresentava la realtà con figure intangibili e pennellate furiose di colore, creando un senso claustrofobico.
